DETROIT (WJBK) -

Doctors go through years of training and are taught to handle the unexpected while being calm and collected. A doctor from Sinai-Grace Hospital did just that long before he even made it to work.

"I take that route every morning, the same corner with the accident, that Michigan U," said Dr. Prashanth Senthil.

He just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Senthil came across the accident outside the Renaissance Center on his way to work Friday morning. Instinct took over.

"I saw a red SUV that was smacked into a pole, and I saw fluids dripping, and I saw a little bit of flame. I saw another vehicle to the left of it also into a pole," the doctor explained.

Senthil was the first person to arrive by a long shot, some 40 minutes before an ambulance. He said he removed the victims from their cars, stabilized them, then started treating their injuries all with the help of a DMC nurse, who also just happened to show up.

"I kind of just did what I had to do. It's part of, I think, being a good human, good Samaritan," Senthil said. "If I'm in an emergency situation, I'd hope somebody could be there to rescue me."

We were told he even used his own car to block traffic on Jefferson so he could attend to the victims safely without fear of anyone else getting hurt.

When everyone was in good hands, he snapped a couple of pictures so he remember Friday's crazy beginning. It was all in a day's work before he even got to work.

From what we understand, all the victims should make a full recovery.
