$10M BAIL: Man accused of beating, pouring oil on woman in Shakopee

Posted: Updated:

He's the $10-million man, but that's not a compliment. That's the bail set for a man accused of pouring antifreeze and motor oil over a Shakopee woman, beating her and throwing her into his car.

Neighbors on the quiet block told FOX 9 News they've never seen anything like it. A young woman in a quiet voice urged them to "call the cops. Call 911." Then, they watched as Fredrick Holt dragged his ex-girlfriend dragged into a house.

Holt is accused of pouring motor oil and antifreeze over her entire body, punching and kicking her and then throwing her into the back seat of his car. Police pulled him over a couple of blocks away and found a lighter in his pocket.

In the ambulance, the fumes from the chemicals were overwhelming and paramedics discovered the victim may have been forced to swallow antifreeze as well.

Holt is now charged with kidnapping, terroristic threats, domestic violence and violating a protection order -- and Scott County Judge Michael Fahey isn't going to give Holt the chance to bolt. He set bail at a whopping $10 million or $1 million in cash.

No one at the Scott County Courthouse can recall bail being set that high. Usually, bail for murder suspects is set at $1 million or $2 million, but the judge said Holt's rap sheet made it appropriate.

Last February in Duluth, Holt found his ex-girlfriend hiding in a closet and drug her out by her hair before stripping off her clothes and whipping her with a belt, according to the charges. A relative told FOX 9 News she spent two days in intensive care.

Holt and his ex-girlfriend also have a 3-year-old child together, and he has been accused of abusing the boy as well.

Holt, who goes by the aliases D-man, Little Ride, and half a dozen others, has a criminal record that also includes charges of assault, weapons and dealing heroin. He also has a history of making bail -- but there are a million reasons to believe he won't be able to this time.
