PHOENIX -

Four valley students won a national academic championship. Moon Valley High School's junior ROTC cadets beat out thousands of students in a battle of wits.

These students love to learn.

"We practice a lot.. at least an hour and a half two times a week."

And they love a challenge.

"I'm really competitive.. also I like winning."

But winning the Junior ROTC Academic Bowl was no easy task.

"We're competing against the best and brightest in the nation."

These Moon Valley High students competed against more than 2,000 schools to make it to the finals held in Washington, D.C.  They came home with the gold.

"With 355 points representing the Navy, Moon Valley High School."

"Each round, you could just see how comfortable they were and how confident they were in what they were about to do."

"The chemistry was great between us.. we had a lot of fun."

And now that the competition is over, they're looking toward the future.

It won't be too hard for these four to accomplish those goals.  They're already being offered academic scholarships.  Right now, their futures are looking as bright as their trophy.
