Bartlett soldier killed in Afghanistan

JACKSON, Miss. (FOX13) -

A 29-year-old soldier from Bartlett, Tenn., died July 28 from wounds he sustained when his unit was attacked in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said.

Army Sgt. Stephen M. New died July 28 in Bagram, Afghanistan, after his outfit was attacked by small arms fire in the Sarobi District of Kabul Province.

Sgt. New was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) out of Jackson, Miss.

Funeral details are pending.
