An off-duty Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper was killed late Tuesday morning while riding his motorcycle near Main Street and Highway 4 in Senatobia.
Trooper Eric Lentz, 47, was killed when a motorist pulled out in front of him near Highway 4 and Highway 51, Senatobia Police said.
Senatobia Police Chief Steve Holts said Trooper Lentz died at the scene.
Trooper Lentz served with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Chief Holts said the circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation by accident reconstruction specialists with his department and with assistance from the highway patrol.
