It appears the fate of the Nineteenth Century Club building on Union Avenue in Memphis is sealed.
Shelby County Environmental Judge Larry Potter ruled Wednesday that new owners of the club can go ahead with their plan to demolish the building.
Judge Potter did order the owners back in court Aug. 25 to file additional paperwork, telling them they would need a permit to demolish the building.
The decision had been delayed by the judge as he heard arguments from groups which had hoped to save the storied mansion, which was built in the early 1900s.
