Chris Carpenter's rehab start with the Memphis Redbirds Saturday will be the last time we see the Cardinals right hander for a while.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Carpenter, after experiencing numbness in his hand following his start in Memphis will put his comeback on hold for the time being.
"I am going to take a little bit of time," Carpenter told the Post-Dispatch. "After the last one it just wasn't what we were looking for. I wasn't happy with the way that I recovered, and neither was the medical staff. We are going to take a step back again."
There is no timetable for Carpenter's return.
In his last outing in Memphis Carpenter pitched 3 1/3 inning giving up nine hits and four runs against Oklahoma City.
