NEW YORK (AP) - Anthony Marshall, who's serving 1 to 3 years in prison, has been classified as eligible for medical parole.

A Department of Correction spokesman tells the Daily News that Marshall will go before a parole board the week of Aug. 19.

Marshall began serving the sentence in June for defrauding his philanthropist mother, Brooke Astor, of her multimillion dollar fortune.

Marshall suffers from Parkinson's disease.

His lawyer, Kenneth Warner, says he hopes Marshall will be released on medical parole as soon as possible.

The 89-year-old Marshall is at the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon.

The News says the Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment.

Former NY Knicks point guard Raymond Felton pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Manhattan gun case, taking a plea deal that involved admitting a felony but spares him jail. Last winter, after Felton's law student wife filed for divorce, her attorney brought a loaded semi-automatic handgun to a police precinct and said it was Felton's and she wanted it out of the house, authorities said.  Felton's attorney said he never threatened anyone with the gun.
