CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Tony Curtis' autograph adorns the car he drove in "The Great Race." It is one of two from that movie being featured at Concours d'Elegance.

Collector Ted Stahl maintains the cars at his Chesterfield Township museum.

"Leslie Special and the Hannibal 8, two unique cars that we fell in love with," he said.

A 1948 Tucker, number 15 off the assembly line, is another beauty in Stahl's collection.

The model years at the museum are concentrated mainly before 1955.

"That's when designers could be designers. It wasn't by committee. It wasn't by the government dictate. It was they wanted to sell cars, and depression era, they had to bring people into the showrooms," Stahl said.

So how does one afford a 1919 Meisenhelder concept car, the only one of its kind, and many other classics? If you have ever worn a sports jersey with an applique on it, guess who pioneered the technology?

An authenticated recreation of an L-29 Cord will also be at Concours d'Elegance, but if you want to see more than just three of his cars, then come out to Stahl's museum on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no charge.

While you are there, you can also check out his collection of music players.

Right now the baseball diamond at the old Tiger Stadium is being used by little leaguers and even some vintage baseball teams. But that could change, even before this season is over.
