CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 45-year-old Northwest Side woman who threw four puppies to their death in a pond is now facing more than two dozen animal cruelty charges after more mistreated dogs were found at her home, police said.

Francis M. Blake of the 3500 block of North Narragansett Avenue was arrested Thursday after she was identified as the person seen tossing four puppies into a pond near her home on July 3. The puppies did not survive, police said

On Thursday a search warrant executed at her home and police found seven emaciated dogs, including one with visible injuries, police said.

The dogs were removed from the home and Blake was charged with four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, four felony counts of animal torture, seven misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, and 11 misdemeanor counts of violation of animal owner duties, according to police.

Blake was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing on Friday.
