DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Memphis' mega-Bass Pro Shop at The Pyramid in the Pinch District is closer to becoming a reality.

City council members got a look on Tuesday from the developers who shared new animations of what the building will look like in when it opens to the public in December 2014.

The city's portion of the construction is nearly complete and Bass Pro shop will start construction on The Pyramid in the next two months.

The new mockups show the redesigned signs and the exterior improvements to The Pyramid.

"They're going to have money in the game basically and they're going to be on site every day for the next year or so," said Councilman Jim Strickland. "So now they're starting their construction work. I don't think we'll see any more delays. I think they really will open in December of 2014."

The city's community development director stressed the public funding for the project is coming from state tourism development zone money, not local tax dollars.
