PHILADELPHIA -

Thieves hit a new low in Northeast Philadelphia. Police say two crooks stole money from a cancer research fundraiser!

Photos capture the fun, happy times during a Saturday night cancer research fundraiser at Curran's Irish Pub in Northeast Philadelphia. But those happy times ended with about a thousand dollars in donations stolen right from the parking lot.

"For somebody to take donations that are charitable, I can't wrap my head around it. It's very heartbreaking," says Erin Torpey.

Erin Torpey is part of the Seeds of Hope Team raising the money for the three-day Susan G. Komen walk in October.

It's the second year they're doing the event and each team member needs to raise $2300 to participate. The fundraiser was big.

"I mean it's devastating. Because we are trying to do a good thing. We are trying to help find a cure for cancer," expresses Torpey.

"For somebody to be just so heartless…I can't even find…so many different words going through my head of what type of person it is but I can't even comprehend," says Winnie Otto, team leader.

Investigators believe two people from out of state may have stolen the money.

The bar turned over surveillance video that may hold some clues.

Now the team wonders what they will do next.

"This was like our big benefit. This was what we planned on making the most money with," says

They vow to press on.

"At this point the money is already gone. We are just trying to move forward," says Torpey.

"That's not going to stop us. That person. There's no possible way," vows Otto.

Police believe they know who they are looking for. They say the suspects are from the Virginia Beach and New England areas. In the meantime if you would like to learn more about the Seeds of Hope cancer research team, here's their site: http://facebook.com/theseedsofhopegrowstronger
