Georgia tax revenue up 5.9% through June

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal says the state's tax revenue through the month of June totaled $17 billion, up 5.9% - or nearly $951 million - from the same point in 2012.

Deal said Monday that Georgia's increase in net tax revenue could be attributed to growth in several categories.

Deal says the state collected about $791.5 million in individual income taxes in June, a $10.5 million increase from June of 2012.

The state also collected $156.75 million in corporate income taxes, which is up by $2.75 million from June of 2012.

Deal says the state collected $87 million in motor vehicle fees, which is $58 million higher than last year. The increase is attributed to the newly-established tax that replaced the state's auto sales tax on new car purchases.
