Is this the end of Western civilization as we know it?
That is the grey thought of some following the recent release of a Pew Institute analysis on birth rates.
The birth rate in the United States in 2012 was at its lowest since 1998. Even after the recession ended, the rate stayed the same.
Traditionally the birth rate is dictated by the economy. Bad times mean fewer babies. But the uptick in the economy over the last three years has not prompted an increase in babies born in the United States.
Attorney Joseph Murray, a political consultant, sees the socio-economic connections and how these numbers can impact us.
