A Germantown Municipal Court judge denied Christopher Jones' motion Wednesday for a fast and speedy trail.
Jones is accused of killing his estranged wife, kindergarten teacher Heather Palumbo-Jones in April.
Jones was found fully competent to stand trial in June following the results of a court-ordered mental evaluation. He entered an innocent plea and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
His second-degree murder case will likely be turned over to a Shelby County grand jury for indictment.
Ms. Palumbo-Jones was reported missing April 16 after she didn't report to work. A couple of weeks later after searching for her, Jones confessed and led Germantown police to his wife's body to a thickly wooded area in rural eastern Shelby County.
