(WJBK) -

A West Bloomfield boy is among healthy lunch recipe winners awarded by first lady Michelle Obama. Eight year old Jacob Hirsch won for his picky eater pita pizza pocket recipe. Mrs. Obama honored young chefs for the second annual 'State Dinner' luncheon. The President joined them as well.

The first lady welcomed more than 50 children who created winning recipes as part of a healthy lunch contest. More than 13,000 children ages eight to 12 entered the challenge with the goal of creating a nutritious lunch using each of the food groups.

Some of the winning recipes include sushi salad, sweet potato turkey sliders, hidden veggie lasagna, salmon fried rice, and garden stir-fry. The contest is part of the first lady's 'Let's Move' initiative which aims to fight childhood obesity with healthier eating and physical fitness.
