New trial date set for Ricin-letters suspect

ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) -

An October trial date is set for a 41-year-old Tupelo man accused in a poison-letter scheme aimed at President Obama and two other elected leaders.

On Monday, the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock granted a delay from July 29 until Oct. 7 to try James Everett Dutschke.

Dutschke is a former martial arts instructor arrested in late April after federal investigators claimed they linked him to letters mailed to Obama, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Tupelo and Lee County Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland.

Dutschke insists he had nothing to do with the letters or an alleged attempt to blame another man for the crime.

He remains in the Lafayette County Detention Center without bond.
