If you are driving through Olive ranch, Miss., the next week, you will need to give yourself several extra minutes if you travel across Highway 305.
Highway 305, one of the main arteries in town, has been shut down for the next eight days for a drainage and widening project.
Traffic near the road project is being rerouted through the neighborhood by Olive Branch Middle School then back out onto Highway 305. Crews are putting drainage pipes under the existing road. Highway 305 is also being widened by several lanes.
Mayor Scott Phillips is asking motorists to be patient during the roadwork, which is expected to last through July 26. Another drainage improvement will take place between July 18-26 at the old power company near the Brantley Funeral Home and Cockrum Road.
The complete widening project between Highway 78 and Old Goodman will be complete by May 29, 2014, weather permitting.
