Medical Examiner Testifies Zimmerman's Injuries Were Insignificant

SANFORD, Fla. -

Prosecutors in the George Zimmerman murder trial called a medical examiner to the stand Tuesday.

Dr. Valerie Rao testified that his injuries were not life-threatening. She told jurors that his bruises didn't reflect that his head was being slammed into the sidewalk, as he claims.

The prosecution also questioned the lead investigator about the fighting described by Zimmerman.

And Zimmerman's best friend, Mark Osterman, also testified. Prosecutors tried pointing out inconsistent statements he made in his book about Zimmerman.

On Wednesday morning, reporter Melissa Mahadeo joined "Good Day Philadelphia" live from Sanford, Fla., where she has been following the trial closely.
