Shelby County Sheriff deputies are searching for 26-year-old corrections center inmate Daniel Webster, who walked Tuesday from a work detail at the Lichterman Nature Center on Quince Road in east Memphis.
Webster was part of a 3–man crew doing landscaping work and his supervisors at the nature center at 5992 Quince Road reported him missing about 12:40 p.m.
According to Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell's office, Webster was serving a four-year sentence for theft of property and vandalism. He and other correction center inmates who meet certain qualifications are permitted to work at various government facilities, non-profit organizations, and other places throughout Shelby County.
Corrections officials describe Webster was African-American, 5-foot-4 in height, weighs 130 pounds and has braided hair. He was wearing a light blue shirt with the letters "SCDC" in yellow across the back at the time he was last seen. The sides of his blue jeans were also trimmed with the yellow letters.
Webster also has a tattoo on his neck with the word Jessica."
