Firefighters investigate transformer fire at Cook Convention Center

Posted: Updated:
DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The Memphis Fire Department was called to a transformer fire at the Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis.

Firefighters say the fire started at 7:27 a.m., but when they arrived, it was out.

The convention center was evacuated as a precaution, but no one was injured.

Memphis, Light, Gas & Water is on the scene trying to figure out what sparked the fire.

This is the second transformer fire downtown in less than a week.  Last Wednesday the Exchange Building apartment complex was evacuated after an underground transformer caught fire, shooting flames two stories into the air.

No one was injured in the June 26 fire, and the cause is also under investigation.
