Operation Dry Water takes to Lake Lanier

Posted: Updated:
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Rangers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources were out on Lake Lanier this weekend as part of "Operation Dry Water."

The crackdown aims to educate boaters and to prevent Boating Under the Influence and accidents impaired vessel operators may cause.

A new Georgia law put into place this year lowers the legal limit to .08, the same limit set for operators of motorized vehicles.

The move to the lower limit came after the deadly alcohol-related boat crash which claimed the lives of 9-year-old Jake and 13-year-old Griffin Prince. Authorities say a suspect drunk boater struck their boat which killed the children.
