NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY) -- Roaches, feces, and a whole lot of cats were found in a home in Jersey City. Video from inside the home on 7th Street shows just how deplorable the living conditions are for animals and humans.

Authorities rescued 25 cats and two dogs. The roach infestation was so bad that the cats were eating the roaches, according to James Boor, of the Jersey City Division of Health. He and his crew work for hours on Thursday collecting the animals

A woman in her 60s lives in the home. This isn't the first time she has been down this road. In 1997, she lived on Tonnelle Avenue with more than 80 cats, boor said.

The rescued animals have been taken to the Liberty Humane Society to undergo medical evaluation. If they are healthy enough, they will be put up for adoption.

The woman who owned the pets is facing animal cruelty and public health nuisance charges.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.
