NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Cops on Long Island on Thursday arrested a suspected dognapper who allegedly broke into a pet rescue center and stole a puppy from a rescue group on Wednesday.

A worker from Friends of Freddie Pet Rescue in Middle Island called cops after finding the front door smashed and a puppy missing, according to Suffolk County Police.

Detectives investigating the puppy's disappearance arrested Justin Geiger, 23, at his home Thursday afternoon. The detectives found the stolen Rottweiler puppy at Geiger, police said.

Cops suspected Geiger after hearing that he had come to the rescue center on Tuesday asking if that puppy had a microchip. Employees told Geiger that the dog didn't have a chip.

Authorities charged Geiger with third-degree burglary and tossed him behind bars. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, police said.

Coping with stress and anxiety is on the curriculum at several Long Island schools. Students in elementary grades are learning meditation techniques. On most days, Mr. D's fourth grade class in Islip is like any other class. But once a week for 8 weeks, teachers like Kelly come in and teach students about mindfulness. Kelly is with Mission Be, a nonprofit organization bringing mindful education to public schools.

Taxis come in yellow, green, black, and now... hot pink? They're called SheTaxis and they are from a cab service for women by women. (The cabs aren't actually pink, but drivers will carry pink pashminas.)The service is coming to New York this week. You could almost think of it as an all-female Uber.
