Thursday will be the hottest day so far this summer. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for much of the Mid-South from 11 a.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.
The heat dome includes all of West Tennessee, Eastern Arkansas, North-Central Mississippi and the Booteheel of Missouri.
Thursday afternoon temperatures will hover in the upper 90s, close to 100. Combined with the muggy air pushing from the Gulf of Mexico, Thursday afternoon's heat index reading will be between 104-108F.
It won't get much better after sunset. Overnight lows will be around 79-80F.
Stay cool, stay inside, and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Friday will be a tad bit "cooler" with a high around 94F.
Relief is in sight. A "cool" front will trigger some much needed rain dropping our weekend temps into the 80s.
