Gov. Deal reassures Ga. 400 toll gone by Nov. 21

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Gov. Nathan Deal assured stakeholders Tuesday that plans are still on track to end the Georgia 400 toll on or around November 21.

The lead voice at Tuesday's Tollway Authority meeting, Gov. Deal added that the plaza area would be taken down at a later time.

Last May, the State Road and Tollway Authority announced the November 21 date.

Gov. Deal had announced last July that the tollbooths would be removed by December 2013.

The 50-cent toll was originally slated to end in 2011, but in December 2010, the state issued $40 million more in bonds that were tied to the tolls.

If weather does not permit the tolls to come down on Nov. 21, they will come down on Nov. 22 or 23.
