Businesses closed up at Park Central Mall shopping complex near downtown Phoenix Monday after copper thieves left their mark, leaving businesses without water until repairs were made.
The theft shut down the mall's water supply, leaving both customers and employees frustrated.
It's a crime that's been happening more and more across the valley, costing business owners big bucks.
"Someone had stolen copper piping off the roof and said don't bother coming into work because we don't have water," said Starbucks employee Barret Westberg.
"Starbucks was out, we wanted an ice tea so then we went to the deli, the deli's closed and Good Egg is closed," said Maggie Silvia, a disappointed customer.
Installing new copper pipes is not only inconvenient and expensive, but can take a long time to repair.
UPDATE: The water was turned back on Tuesday morning.
