Missing Tipton Co man found alive, treated for dehydration

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. (FOX13) -

 

UPDATE: Cary Mims Ferguson, 58, who was last seen at around 10:30 a.m. walking his dog near his house in Tipton County, was located by search crews around 6 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

The missing man and his dog were both located in a wooded area off Detroit Road approximately one mile north of his home.

The sheriff's office said Ferguson and his dog were treated by medical personnel where he was located and then was transported for further treatment to Baptist Memorial Hospital Tipton for apparent dehydration and further evaluation.

The dog was released to family members, the sheriff said.

A coordinated search effort is underway in Tipton County, Tenn., for 58-year-old Cary Mims Ferguson, who reportedly disappeared Friday morning while walking his dog, the Tipton County Sheriff said.

He was last seen around 10:30 a.m. walking his dog near his home in the 2000 block of Detroit Road in Burlison.
 
Ferguson is described as a white male, weighing 190 lbs, 5-foot-10 in height, with brown eyes, and brown hair.

Though a picture of Ferguson provided by the sheriff shows him in a mustache and beard, the sheriff's department says the man has shaved off his facial hair.

He is also reported to have possibly been wearing blue jean pants and a brown and white striped shirt.

Ferguson suffers from serious medical conditions, the sheriff said.

Search crews, including helicopters from the Memphis Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, have been in the rural area several hours and are continuing to search. A command post has been established in the area to deploy the necessary resources.
