Now that there is new leadership in Southaven, the city may receive $850,000 in Mississippi grant money.
The money was frozen last year because of the investigation into Mayor Greg Davis by the state auditor and the Board of Alderman's testimony in the case.
The money was for transportation improvements and the construction of a bike trail.
With the election of Darren Musselwhite and an almost completely new board of alderman, Southaven may now get the money.
MDOT says if there is nothing linking the them to the current investigation, and if the new mayor and alderman show that they can be good stewards of the money, the money will be released.
