This morning the U.S. Supreme Court ruled states cannot require voters to prove they are U.S. citizens before they can vote.
The case focuses specifically on Arizona but it has broader implications because four other states, including Tennessee, have similar voter ID requirements.
Federal law requires voter to claim U.S. citizenship on a mail-in post card, under penalty of perjury.
The Arizona law required separate physical proof of citizenship.
