CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chelsea Clinton took center stage at the Daley Plaza helping to pump up some 5,000 volunteers for the Chicago Cares Serv-a-thon. It's the single biggest day of community service in Chicago every year. "I love being back in Chicago, my Mother's home town, and my grandmother's home town," Chelsea said.

The volunteers also heard from Governor Pat Quinn. "Service to others is the rent we pay for our place on God's earth. And everyone here is more than paying your rent in service today. Doctor Martin Luther King, many years ago, said everyone can be great, because everyone can serve. So everything you're doing today really makes a difference," Quinn said.

Later on, the former first daughter chipped in herself, grabbing a paintbrush at the Kozminski Community Academy. Clinton was one of four hundred volunteers provided by the Clinton Global Initiative America, the two-day gathering in Chicago this week which provided a high profile forum for two potential candidates for the 2016 presidential race; Clinton and Christie.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who promised to continue helping to open doors for women and girls said that when women participate in politics, the effects ripple out across society. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who focused on his efforts to cope with the 365,000 homes lost in Hurricane Sandy. "What you're looking at then is how do you get people a sense of hope, and do it in a smart way," Christie said.

Former President Bill Clinton was the host for it all, and afterwards, he announced that after three years of gatherings in Chicago, the thousand or so government and business leaders would be meeting in Denver next year. He said that he was grateful to Chicago, but Denver is the right place to continue the initiative's work.
