Memphis police are investigating an officer-involved shooting. Around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, police say officers were responded to an alarm call at an apartment complex at 2939 Wedge Cove.
When police arrived on the scene, they heard a noise coming from the back of the apartment building. Police went to the back and saw a man armed with a shotgun.
Officers told the man to drop the gun, but he turned and pointed it at police. One officer fired shots at the suspect, hitting him once.
The suspect fled the scene and was later located at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi.
The suspect was airlifted to Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
The officer who fired his weapon is now on paid leave pending an investigation. The Memphis Police Department isn't releasing his name at this time.
