PHOENIX -

Gun owners, veterans and concerned citizens are all standing together reminding lawmakers they're still fighting for a change to gun laws.

Friday night, people gathered at Steele Indian School Park to hold a "Phoenix Stands with Newtown" rally and call for action against gun violence.

Both supporters of gun safety and victims of gun violence were on hand, joining together in a day of remembrance of Newtown victims, as well as calling for action against gun violence.

Today 10 states held similar events, 6 months after the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of 26 people.

“We’re here today in remembrance of that and to really let our lawmakers know that we’re not backing down and haven’t forgotten and you know, as a survivor of gun violence I know that this is an issue that’s very close to my heart and it’s something that will impact you the rest of your life,” says Gloria Galeno, shooting survivor.

Rally members also asked senators to take a second look at their votes against background check legislation.
