STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

The giant Movado clock is ticking on rapper and reality star Flavor Flav's fried chicken empire.

His chicken and ribs restaurant in Sterling Heights has been accused of not paying the rent since December 2012, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The celebrity news web site says Flavor Flav's Chicken and Ribs location on 15 Mile and Van Dyke is on the ropes unless it finds a way to come up with $25,000 in missing rent, late fees and damages.

TMZ reports eviction papers have been sent to owners and the restaurant could close in a matter of weeks.

TMZ reached out to Flav who said, "I'm gonna figure out what's going on and get to the bottom of this ASAP!"

Flav opened two other chicken joints over the past few years, one in Iowa and another in Las Vegas. Both have since shut down.

Flavor Flav, whose real name William Drayton Jr., was a founding member of the hip-hop group Public Enemy in the '80s. He found new fame in 2004 as a cast member of the third season of VH1's "The Surreal Life," which spun off into "Crazy Love," with Flav and actress Brigette Nielsen. He also went on to star in the network's "Flavor of Love."
