Man who threatened to set girl on fire is charged

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

A Memphis man is being held on half a million dollars bond for nearly beating his girlfriend to death.

Police say twenty four year old Antonio Davis punched, kicked and pistol whipped his girlfriend earlier this month.

They say he also beat her with a belt and a cable box, taped her arms and legs together, doused her in lighter fluid and threatened to set her on fire.

All this, police say, because he thought she was cheating on him.

Davis is charged tonight with attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping.
