Monk is in such bad shape, he'll be considered an "ER" case for at least another month.
Streetdog Foundation is looking for
help with vet bills, plus a forever home.
"This is the worst I've ever seen and I've
rescued a couple of mange pups." Alli rushed the pup, now known as Monk,
to the vet.
The diagnosis is démodé tic mange.
"His prognosis is hopeful because
it is treatable. He just needs a lot of
nutrients so he can bounce back because he's also emaciated, dehydrated, and
has some other things a street dog would have," says Alli.
The mange is so bad; it's in Monk's
blood stream. He's receiving an IV for fluids, nutrients, and pain medication.
He recently started eating on his own, and wagging his tail but it will be a
long road for Monk, at least one month in the "ER." unit of the vet,
and much longer for a full recovery.
Alli says, "because we don't know how long the recovery is going to take, we don't know how expensive it's going to be, but we know it's going to take a while, so we welcome and appreciate any donations to his care."
Donations have already come in from
across the country and even parts of Europe. People all over the world are
following Monk's story.
He was wearing a collar, but no tags
to reveal who was the owner. But Streetdog Foundation Rescuers are not dwelling
on who could let this happen to him, but what the future holds. "We do know
once we rescue them, they have a great future ahead of them, and that's what we
look forward to, is their recovery, healing, their rehab, and most of all,
finding their future home," says Alli.
