Detectives have submitted charges against 24-year-old Jesus Cabrera Molina in the hit-and-run death of Officer Daryl Raetz.

Molina has already been in custody on separate drug-related charges. Now he's facing manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal collision, both felonies.

Daryl Raetz, 29, was struck and killed by a vehicle on May 19, in the area of 51st Ave and Cambridge. He had been with the department for 6 years, and was also a military veteran.

The vehicle, described as a dark SUV, fled the scene.

Molina was arrested around 1:15 p.m. later that day during a traffic stop near Thompson Ranch Road and Grand Avenue in Surprise.

Records indicate the 24-year-old was pulled over by an officer who recognized that Molina's SUV matched the description of a vehicle involved in the accident. He was arrested because he allegedly had a baggie of cocaine on him.

Molina is the registered owner of the SUV involved in the crash, and his dad told FOX 10 he was the only person who drove it.

Since then, police say they've developed probable cause to charge him with the officer's death. Authorities believe alcohol played a role in the collision, but Molina has not been charged with DUI.

According to records, Molina does have a criminal record. He's has been arrested for DUI twice and once for burglary. He is also in the country illegally.

Raetz leaves behind a wife and young daughter.
