MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

University of Memphis basketball head coach Josh Pastner announced Friday that 6-foot-8 forward David Pellom has signed to play at the U of M. Pellom, who will enroll at Memphis for the first summer session that starts June 3, has one year of eligibility after graduating from George Washington University this spring.

"We're excited to have David join the Tigers program," said Pastner. "David brings experience of playing at a high level with his three seasons at George Washington University. We're happy to have him as a member of our family."

Pellom, a Wilmington, N.C., native, played three seasons at George Washington, but missed the entire 2012-13 season with injuries.

As a junior in 2011-12, Pellom averaged a career-best 10.4 points, while shooting a Colonials single-season record 68.5 percent from the field. He led the Colonials with a 6.1 rebounding average while playing 26.8 minutes per contest. During his junior season, Pellom converted 122-of-178 field goals to pace Atlantic 10 Conference and rank fourth in the nation at 68.5 percent.

Pellom was the first George Washington player in at least 23 seasons with four consecutive double-doubles and finished the year with six, most by a GW player since the 2007-08 season.
In his George Washington career, Pellom played in 88 games, scoring 576 points and grabbing 425 rebounds. He was a 60.4 percent career shooter who also had 85 assists, 45 blocks and 65 steals for the Colonials.
