The 5th annual Michigan Fun Fest presented by St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Livonia is happening May 30-June 2, 2013. The festival is located at Bryant Park, 18000 Merriman Rd. in Livonia.

The St. Mary's Michigan Fun Fest was created to bring the Detroit community together to raise awareness for and funds to build the Mariam Outreach Center, which fosters youth and family enrichment. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot building's construction is slated to be complete in 2017.

La Palma Chicken and Beef Shawarma

 

Chicken marinade

1 cup garlic paste

1.25 oz salt 1 Tsp white pepper

1 Tbls dried oregano

1/2 oz sumac

2 bay leaves

1/4 cup lemon juice

1.5 oz white vinegar

1/4 cup veg oil

1 Tsp ginger

Whisk together all ingredients until well coined

 

Meat shawarma marinade

3 oz red wine vinegar

3 oz diced onions

3 oz diced tomatoes

3 slices fresh lemons

2 bay leaves

1 oz shawarma spice

1/4 cup veg oil

Blend all ingredients until well combined

 

Chicken shawarma

Chicken breast de boned

3 lbs

Chicken thighs de boned 3 lbs

Combine one cup of chicken marinade with all chicken &

refrigerate overnight

 

Meat shawarma

3 lbs of top sirloin meat

Combine beef & meat marinade & refrigerate overnight
