Construction on Methodist Healthcare's Olive Branch Hospital is almost complete. Construction should be done by the end of June.
The Hospital is not scheduled to open until late August, the time in between will be used to train staff, get state licensure, and move equipment into the hospital.
Among the interesting features in the hospital an infant protection system on the labor and delivery floor. Wristbands placed on babies are tracked. Should the wristband be cut or a baby moved off the floor without being checked out an alarm will sound and the doors on the floor will lock. The hospital also has a nurse tracking system that keeps up with calls from patients and response time by nurses.
One of the goals of Methodist Healthcare is to make the Olive Branch Hospital among the most energy efficient hospitals in the country. Windows in the front lobby can be electronically controlled and tinted to control temperature in the building. The building is also heated and cooled by a giant heat pump system reducing electric bills and lighting in the parking lots is all LED.
The Hospital will open as a sixty bed hospital and about a hundred million dollar investment in the community. It will bring about 250 permanent jobs to Olive Branch.
