Everything is set and ready to go for the 2013 edition of the Italian Fest.
If you have never been to the three day festival in East Memphis at Marquette Park, get ready for a treat. It is where the very best Italian Food in Memphis comes together and turns everyone, for a couple of days, into a Paisan.
" We put in a lot of hard work. We had a set plan that every year it would get bigger until a certain point and now we maintain it and do a few things to grow revenue and that kind of thing," co-founder Maria Bertagna said.
"We have a gravy cooking contest where we have 48 teams cooking gravy. If you don't know or are not friends with one of these gravy cooking teams you still get great food," Donny Bursi said.
There is even a place at Italian Fest called Luigi's Hideaway. For just $35, you can come and sit at a table and relax. You can have anything you want to eat and drink. It also offers a good view of the bands. The problem for this year if you are not already a part…it is sold out.
But, by no means will you go hungry. Vendors of all kinds are everywhere.
Which is really the bottom line to this big Italian family cookout. Come eat, dance, eat some more, and listen to the bands.
