Photos began showing up on Instagram on May 20. Each of them seemed to threaten violence at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Polish Country Fair. One even got a few likes.

Of course, plenty of people saw them, and one parent went to police.

"If somebody is intent on doing some kind of violent act, we're going to do everything we can to find them and interrupt it before it happens, and so we had a lot of people working this," says Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Bouchard says within a matter of days investigators tracked at least one picture to a 16-year-old boy from Detroit. He's a teen investigators say was connected to Detroit gang members, who may have been responsible for some of the threats. The teen claims the gun belonged to one of his mother's friends and says he had no intention of being at the fair.

But if you ask the sheriff, that explanation is just not good enough.

"A lot of people saw this. They were afraid. They were fearful. They decided to skip the event," Bouchard says.

The teen was arrested before the fair even started, and now he could be charged with domestic terrorism, a crime that can carry a 20 year sentence.
