The Mid-South is under a Code Orange Ozone Advisory for Saturday, May 25. The air conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, the Shelby County Health Department said in a news release Friday.
The ozone Code Orange alert covers Shelby County in Tennessee, Crittenden County in Arkansas; and DeSoto County in Mississippi.
A Code Orange Ozone Advisory indicates ozone levels are forecast to exceed the eight-hour National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
There will be 25-cent rides on MATA buses and trolleys on Sat., May 25, during the Ozone Action Day. Individuals can call 274-MATA (6282), or visit www.matatransit.com for route information.
The ozone alert was issued in cooperation with the SCHD, Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ); the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH); and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).
