CONYERS, Ga. -

A 40-year-old woman died in a fire in Conyers, according to the Rockdale County Fire Department.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a house at 1086 West Adrian Circle.

The victim was identified as Dana Smith, of Conyers, according to officials. Her family said that she has epilepsy and they fear that's why she wasn't able to escape the flames.

Rockdale County Fire Rescue Chief Dan Morgan said that it will be some time before they have a definitive cause of the fire.  He says the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine if a seizure did play a role in the Smith's death.

Neighbors said that Smith was a beloved member of the community and will be greatly missed.
