Meet the gorillas at the Detroit Zoo

Posted: Updated:
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Come celebrate a birthday at the Detroit Zoo! Brothers Chipua, Pendeka, and Kongo arrived in Detroit in 2003 from the Bronx Zoo.

These Western Lowland Gorillas can be seen at the Great Apes of Harambee located in the African Forest exhibit. As Ron Kagan explains, these apes spend their day foraging, playing, and grooming just as they would in the wild.

Special events are happening throughout the summer at the zoo, including performances by the Detroit Flyhouse as well as games and prizes.

Visit the Detroit Zoo web site and check out the app for more information regarding upcoming events and attractions.
