Missing 1-year-old girl found safe, Amber Alert canceled

FOREST PARK, Ga. -

Authorities have canceled an Amber Alert for a 1-year-old girl after she was found safe.  They say 1-year-old Annya Buchannon was in the back of a car that was stolen just after midnight from the Playskool Day Care on Conley Road in Forest Park.

Police say the little girl was in the back of her mother's car when it was stolen from the 24-hour day care center.  Surveillance video from the day care center shows her mom, Victoria, putting Annya in the car, and then going back inside to get her other child.  That's when a man jumped in the car and took off-- with Annya inside. 

The child was found safe and she was reunited with her parents just before 7 a.m. , about six hours after she was taken. 

Police say a resident who heard about the Amber Alert called police to tell them they had seen a similar vehicle.  Police found the missing car parked at  Scott Drive and Holly Circle in Forest Park.  Annya was sleeping in the backseat. 

Police think that when the suspect realized there was a child in the backseat, he got scared and ditched the car.  Investigators are still combing the car for evidence.  The suspect remains on the loose.
