Despite the Western Conference Finals Game One loss, Grizz Fever is still alive and especially in a new Memphis Grizzlies-inspired song by two local rap artists, DJ Paul and Drumma Boy.
"We saw all of these flags in the whole theater saying ‘We don't bluff! We don't bluff!' Just looking at all the towels it was like, ‘Man we need to do a song,'" recalls Drumma Boy to FOX 13 News, "I heard the hook, ‘We don't bluff! We don't bluff! I thought I told you!' And I was like, ‘Oh this is going to be crazy!'"
Along with inspiration from the fans, the rap duo used the grin-n-grind energy in the city and among the players to produce the song.
"These are all guys that I'm actually cool with," says Drumma Boy, "So we (Drumma Boy and DJ Paul) both come together; I give him the energy of the team, he gives me the energy of the music and the hook and the theme, and now we got the theme song of the Memphis Grizzlies."
Within the five days that "We Don't Bluff" dropped, the video received nearly 40,000 views on YouTube and Drumma Boy says it received 50 spins on the radio.
"Z-Bo like, ‘Man you all crazy! That's all we listening to in the club!'' says Drumma Boy, "I just knew it would be something different and something special to get the crowd hyped."
It is a song that Memphis Grizzlies fans will need to get back hyped up after a crushing blow during Game One on Sunday and to show everyone that in GrizzNation, we don't bluff.
Drumma Boy says, "Just looking at this team, looking at this organization and so many people putting downplay, ‘Y'all shouldn't have traded Rudy Gay.' Man, it's all talk; let them talk. This is where we are. We don't bluff."
