Delco Rower Remembered By Teammates After Fatal Crash

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

It was an emotional qualifying day for Episcopal Academy varsity crew members taking part in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta.

They just lost one of their star members, 18-year-old Paul Pratt.

"When I found, out I had no words," said teammate and friend Jojo Pusey.

"He had a drive for everything he did. He was ecstatic even when we had practices at 5:45 in the morning, in the rain (and) in the snow," he added.

Teammates say Pratt was a junior at the academy and excelled at everything he did.

Most classmates learned of his death during a prayer service Friday morning, and team members wore special ribbons dedicated to his memory.

Investigators tell reporters the crash happened after he apparently lost control of his SUV, hit a curb and was thrown from the vehicle Thursday night.

It is believed he was on his way home from practice. Investigators do not think drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Administrators at Episcopal Academy have planned a private memorial service for Pratt next week.
