Southaven Mayor Greg Davis took the stand Thursday in his civil trial in Hinds County Chancery Court in Jackson.
Mississippi State Auditor Stacey Pickering is trying to get Mayor Davis to re-pay taxpayer money, which was spent on trips, meals and clothes.
The state auditor's investigator has testified on the stand that there is no regulation requiring receipts. Southaven city Clerk Sheila Heath has stated that the city did not have a policy where elected officials had to provide receipts.
As for the law regarding receipts, Judge Dewayne Thomas says he will ultimately decide that in this case.
Mayor Davis was questioned about the receipts while he was on the stand.
Mayor Davis testified about the receipts he provided to the state auditor's office. He testified about receipts that he supplied to the state auditor's office, many of them for drinks and meals as well as reimbursement for mileage.
There is still a long list of witnesses to go in this case and there is much doubt in the courtroom that this case will wrap up by Friday.
