Local restaurants have Grizz Fever!
After the Memphis Grizzlies' win for the Western Conference Finals, local restaurants started gritting and grinding out Grizz inspired dishes.
Hog and Hominy is selling their famous arancinis – fried risotto - for a price that matches how many points the Grizzlies scored during their last game. For example, after Wednesday night's game, the restaurant is selling arancinis for 88-cents.
"It's fun to play with it and have fun creating different stuff," says Andy Ticer from Hog and Hominy.
They are also working on having a different dish inspired and named after different Grizz players. Michael Hudman with Hog and Hominy adds, "Each game we're going to try to unveil a different player."
Aldo's Pizza in Downtown Memphis named their daily pizza on Wednesday the "Z-Bo" pizza.
"Every day it's like a spur of the moment," says John Findlay from Aldo's Pizza, "A lot of times everybody takes turns picking out what the ingredients they want to put on the daily special."
Findlay says Grizz fans line up outside the restaurant in anticipation of the GrizzNation specials, something the restaurant and Memphis community would never have done years ago.
"It's gotten pretty crazy. It's a lot of fun!" says Findlay, "I've been going to games every year and you can see the complete change from 12 to 13 years ago when they first came to Memphis you would never see hoards of people walking down Main Street wearing Grizzlies gear."
Other Memphis restaurants are planning Grizzlies cuisine for next week when the Western Conference Finals begin.
